Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a skilled RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring 18 months of recent experience and competency in telemetry and cardiac care.

Responsibilities

Work in a medical and cardiac PCU within a short-term acute care hospital
Patient population includes cardiac stepdown and post-heart catheterization cases
Responsibilities include telemetry monitoring, management of cardiac and vasoactive drips, BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, IV starts, and crisis response
Experience with ventilators, charge nurse duties, and conscious sedation is preferred
Cerner EMR is used and prior experience is required
Night shifts, working 3x12 hours from 18:00 to 6:30
Weekend shifts are required
No on-call required
Floating within scope is required, including potential float to affiliate hospitals
Local candidates are not accepted for PCU roles
First-time travelers are welcome to apply
Teamwork in a true ICU stepdown environment with responsibilities for crisis response
Red scrub tops and black bottoms are required
Free parking is provided
Must work at least 2 out of 3 major holidays
Requested time off of up to 5 days can be auto-approved
Former permanent or PRN employees must be separated from employment for 12 months before being considered as a traveler

Requirements

Active IN or compact RN license, or temporary license, must be in hand prior to start
Minimum of 18 months of recent PCU or stepdown RN experience
AHA or RQI certifications required: BLS and ACLS (NIHSS preferred)
Graduation from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program required
Experience with telemetry, IV starts, cardiac and vasoactive drips, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen required
