Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry Float Pool position requiring an AZ or compact RN license, with strong skills in cardiac drip titration and floating flexibility.
Responsibilities
- Work in an acute care setting with assignment to Telemetry Float Pool, covering all Telemetry, MedSurg, and related holding areas
- Float between Chandler and Mercy Gilbert campuses, with notification 1.5 hours before shift; occasional mid-shift floating possible
- Patients include adults with telemetry, post-cath lab, post-vascular procedures, neuro surgery, general MedSurg, ortho, surgical and oncology cases (no pediatrics)
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:3-4 on Tele/Neuro units, 1:4 on MedSurg units
- 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) with four weekend shifts per schedule; must work two of three major holidays
- Centralized telemetry monitoring; RNs required to interpret EKGs; must be able to titrate cardiac drips
- No vents; RT and pharmacy support available 24/7; hospitalist or intensivist on call
- EMR system: Cerner; experience preferred but not required
- Scrub color is navy
- Responsibilities include providing care for telemetry, neuro, MedSurg, surgical, ortho, and oncology patients as assigned
- Must work collaboratively with clinical supervisors, charge nurses, and PCTs
- First to float among staff; floating to similar or lower acuity units may be required
- Initial orientation includes 12 hours general and 2 shifts on the floor for each unit floated to
- Must wear navy scrubs during all shifts
- Use of Spectralink phones for call lights may be required on certain units
Requirements
- Active AZ or Compact (NLC) RN license required at the time of application
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in acute care telemetry or similar units
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required
- Must have experience and competency titrating cardiac drips
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam (maximum two attempts) prior to contract signing
- Must pass a hands-on Sim Lab assessment on day one of orientation
- Two references required: one from a supervisor within the past 12 months and one from a supervisor or peer within the past 3 years
- Driver's license must be provided for consideration
- Permanent residence must be at least 50 miles from facility for AZ candidates
- Not eligible if employed by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in the past year
