Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical/Surgical ICU night shift position requiring a Massachusetts RN license and strong MICU background.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 20-bed Medical/Surgical ICU at a Level III Trauma Center
• Treats adult patients with diagnoses including substance abuse/overdose, severe psychiatric conditions, DKA, sepsis, GI bleed, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, renal failure, and cardiogenic shock
• Night shift from 19:00-07:30 with every other weekend required
• Floating to medical/surgical units is required, with patient assignments up to 4 or 5 when floated
• Typical ICU RN-to-patient ratio is 1:2 or 1:1 for high acuity, 1:4 or 1:5 when floated
• Uses Epic EMR for charting
• Attendings and residents are present in the ICU 24 hours a day
• Position requires rotating to various patient assignments and units as needed
• Expect to work every other weekend as part of the night shift schedule
• Team-oriented environment with emphasis on high-acuity adult care
• Local candidates may be considered but rates are adjusted for those living within 60 miles of Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston
• No parking validation is available; public transportation and paid parking options exist
• First-time travelers are not specified as accepted; must meet all specified experience requirements

Requirements

• Active Massachusetts RN license required; MA conditional licenses are not accepted
• BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA, Red Cross, CHSF, or Military are required
• Minimum of 3 years of general ICU experience and at least 2 years of continuous MICU experience in one location
• Ability to read telemetry strips is required
• Telemetry competency required
• Flu vaccination is required with no religious or medical exemptions accepted
