Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position covering ED holds, requiring NC or compact RN license and strong telemetry skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital environment within the Med/Surg Tele unit, primarily covering ED holds
• Level I Trauma Center and teaching facility
• Patient population includes trauma, cardiac, stroke, respiratory, and complex medical cases
• RN patient ratio is typically 1:5, acuity dependent
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell med dispensing, and Phillips monitors
• No telemetry monitoring techs; nurses are responsible for rhythm interpretation
• Night shift schedule from 1900-0700 with every other weekend rotation
• Requires the ability to float within Region 1 to multiple specified facilities and freestanding EDs as needed
• Responsibilities include management of diverse patient population such as trauma, cardiac, stroke, and complex med/surg conditions
• Support includes CNA, receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, respiratory therapist, hospitalist, and intensivist available 24/7
• Float requirements include all region facilities and may involve mid-shift travel with compensation for travel time
• Orientation provided with NEO and two days departmental training
• Will be scheduled to work 75% of holidays; up to 6 days RTO approved excluding holidays, with the possibility to extend contract for unmet hours
• First-time travelers may be considered though prior traveler experience is preferred

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Tele experience required
• Proficient in cardiac rhythm interpretation, stroke care, and general med/tele skillset including trach, PIV, chest tubes, NGT, tube/drain management, PCA pumps, and medication gtt management
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred
• Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from assigned unit
