Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Oncology/BMT unit position requiring a CO or compact RN license and 2 years of acute care BMT or heme/onc experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a Bone Marrow Transplant and Oncology hospital unit
  • Cares for patients with blood cancers receiving chemo/biotherapies and cellular therapies such as stem cell transplants and CAR-T
  • Unit has 36 beds, with plans to expand to 51 beds
  • Patient assignments are typically 3-4:1
  • Uses Epic for charting
  • Shifts are rotating, including both days (7:00-19:00) and nights (19:00-7:00), with no fixed straight nights or straight days
  • Workdays vary based on unit needs
  • Weekend shifts required according to unit needs
  • Floating may be required within scope and between similar units
  • No on-call responsibility
  • Role involves administering chemotherapy, biotherapies, and specialized cellular therapies
  • Navy scrubs are required
  • Requests for straight night or straight day schedules will not be accommodated
  • RTO requests are capped at 10 days and are not permitted during specified blackout periods
  • Expansion to a 51-bed unit is expected in the near future

Requirements

  • Active CO or Compact RN license required
  • Current AHA BLS and ONC certification required
  • Minimum of 2 years of acute care experience in BMT or heme/onc
  • Epic experience preferred
  • First-time travelers may be considered if they meet experience requirements
