Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position with night shifts and weekend flexibility requirements.

Details

• Work in a hospital Med/Surg Telemetry unit
• Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
• Care for a patient population including cardiovascular and peripheral vascular surgical cases, arrhythmias, endocarditis, and CHF exacerbations
• Staffing ratios are typically 1:5-6
• Required to work approximately 50% of weekends during the contract based on unit needs
• Travelers may be required to float to different levels of care including Med-Surg, PCU, and ICU at University and Methodist Hospitals with support provided
• EMR system is Cerner and prior Cerner charting experience is required

Requirements

• Active IN or Compact RN license in hand or proof of fingerprint application package submitted
• Current BCLS certification (AHA or RQI accepted and must be current at time of consideration)
• Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE-accredited nursing program
• Minimum 18 months to 2 years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience
• Strong skills in telemetry monitoring and IV start required
• Previous Med/Surg, Tele, PCU, ICU, or ER travel nurses must reside outside the local area; local candidates not accepted for this unit

Additional Information

• May be assigned charge nurse responsibilities as needed with appropriate training and resources
• Expected to float within the hospital or to affiliate hospitals nearby
• Precepting or assignment of students to shadow will be required
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during contract term
• Up to 5 days of requested time off can be auto-approved
• Former IU Health permanent or PRN employees must have a 12-month break before applying as a traveler
