Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with at least 3 years of Cardio-Thoracic and Level 1 or 2 trauma OR experience for a Level 1 Trauma Center assignment.

Responsibilities

• Position is based in a hospital Operating Room with 41 ORs
• Level 1 Trauma Center work environment
• Care for a variety of cases including General, GU/GYN, Neuro, ENT, and Plastic surgeries
• Day shift position (3x12 hours, 06:45 to 19:15) with various days scheduled
• Weekend and on-call shifts required according to unit needs, approximately 6 on-call shifts per 8-week period
• Floating required to other Operating Rooms within the hospital as needed
• Nurse to patient ratio is 1:1
• Use of Epic EMR system is required
• Responsible for circulating and/or scrubbing for a range of surgical cases including complex cardio-thoracic procedures
• Participation in on-call and weekend coverage as needed by the unit
• No blocked scheduling requests will be accommodated
• Up to 10 approved requested time off days per 13-week contract; RTO not permitted during certain blackout periods
• Mandatory module completion during onboarding, with modules completed on the first day as part of new employee orientation
• Return travelers who have completed a full-year assignment are not eligible to return for at least one year
• Scrub attire must conform to hospital policy
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position

Requirements

• Active and current CO or Compact RN license required
• BLS certification from AHA required
• Minimum 3 years of recent Cardio-Thoracic OR experience as a circulator, scrub, or both
• Level 1 or 2 trauma OR experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• No first-time travelers will be considered
• Cannot have worked a full year on assignment in this OR within the past year
• Previous employment with the health system or recent application to internal travel or perm positions within the last two years may disqualify candidates
