Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a float pool night shift role, requiring at least 2 years of ICU experience and a WA or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Nursing Float Pool of a hospital, primarily supporting ED Hold and ICU, with floating to PCU, Med-Surg, and Rehab as needed
• Typical shift is 12-hour nights with 36 hours per week
• Primary patient population includes ICU, PCU, Med-Surg, and ED holding unit patients with a range of acute and complex diagnoses
• Patient ratios are ICU 1:2, PCU/CCU 1:4, Med-Surg 1:5, and Rehab 1:8 with a team model
• Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis med dispensing systems
• Float assignments may include partial shifts within clinical scope
• Primary responsibilities include caring for a wide variety of acute and critical patients, especially in ED holding and float pool environments
• Expected to be flexible, resourceful, and adaptable to varying patient populations and units
• Receive 2 days of hospital orientation, 1 day unit orientation, and additional orientation when floating to new units
• Support staff includes techs, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists available 24/7
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Traveler Telemetry Competency required for consideration
• Schedule varies with unit needs and is provided 3 weeks at a time

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required
• Minimum of 2 years ICU experience required (PCU and Med-Surg experience also considered for floating)
• Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS required
• Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, vent management, invasive line management, and other ICU-related skills
• Experience using EPIC EMR preferred
