Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a pediatric IMC unit specializing in infants and toddlers with surgical and complex care needs.
Responsibilities
- Position is on a pediatric intermediate care unit focusing on infants and toddlers
- Patient population includes medical/surgical pediatric patients up to 21 years, with many NICU step-down and post-op urological surgery cases
- Unit frequently cares for GI, pulmonary, renal, hematology, neurology, and general pediatric cases, as well as general, urological, neurosurgery, orthopedic, plastic surgery, and otolaryngology patients
- Ages treated range from day of life one to five years old
- 8 IMC-designated beds with approximately a 3:1 patient-to-nurse ratio
- Rotating shifts from 7A to 7P, including every other weekend and holidays as needed
- Two 12-hour on-call shifts per schedule
- Utilizes Epic EMR system; prior Epic experience preferred
- Responsibilities include care of post-op bladder exstrophy and other complex surgical cases in infants and toddlers
- Expected to provide care for a variety of medical and surgical pediatric cases
- Holiday coverage is required as determined by the unit
- Scrub or dress code requirements are not specified
- Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate unless otherwise stated
Requirements
- Active MD or compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification is required
- Minimum two years of recent experience in pediatric IMC or pediatric med-surg nursing
- Experience with tracheostomy and ventilated pediatric patients is required
- Experience caring for complicated pediatric surgical patients is required
- Experience in facilities with at least 500 beds is required
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- PALS certification preferred
- Travel experience preferred
