Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Oncology night shift position at an acute care hospital, requiring Epic proficiency and a minimum of 2 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Work setting is an acute care hospital with 233 staffed beds
• Assignment is on the Med/Surg Telemetry unit with a medical, surgical, and oncology patient population
• Patient ratio is 1:5-6
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
• Every other weekend is required (Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday rotation depending on existing schedule)
• Charting is done in Epic, and prior Epic experience is required for this unit
• Floating within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals within service line is required
• No on-call responsibilities
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates who have been permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
• Travelers may remain on assignment for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break is required before returning
• No more than 7 days of RTO per 13-week contract; no RTO during the first week of orientation
• Scrub color is Navy
• Parking is provided at no cost
• Fit testing is required; facial hair must allow for proper mask fit or candidates will be expected to shave — no exceptions
• Medical marijuana card holders are not eligible for this position
• Candidates who obtained their RN degree outside of the U.S. should be aware that extended licensing and compliance timelines may apply

Requirements

• Active MO RN license or a compact RN license from candidate's state of permanent residence is required
• Current certifications required: BLS, NIHSS, and Fire Safety
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience with telemetry, oncology, and med/surg patient populations required
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, accessing and managing ports, starting and maintaining IVs, PCA management, cardiac monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias, use of rapid response/code teams, and isolation precautions/PPE
• Valid SSN and date of birth required for consideration
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
