Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-volume Labor & Delivery position requiring an MD or Compact RN license and a minimum of 2 years of strong L&D experience.
Responsibilities
- High-volume Labor & Delivery unit averaging 450 births per month
- Fast-paced environment recognized as a premier birthing center in the region
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00, with potential for 4x12 scheduling
- Epic EMR — experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred; community hospital experience preferred
- Antepartum, LDRP, high-risk antepartum, and fetal monitoring work settings involved
- Responsibilities span the full continuum of L&D care including antepartum assessment, labor management, C-section support, postpartum care, and neonatal delivery room duties
- Preferred skills include sterile vaginal exam, Jada placement and maintenance, telemetry interpretation, AWHONN certification, and IV conscious sedation
- Surgical procedure experience beneficial: cervical cerclage, D&C, and tubal ligation
- First-time travelers will be considered based on prior clinical experience
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
Requirements
- Active MD or Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current certifications required: BLS, NRP; ACLS, AWHONN (Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced) preferred
- Minimum 2 years of current, strong L&D experience required; candidates with only 2 years must come from a high-volume/high-acuity facility (300+ births/month); otherwise 3 years required
- Proficiency in external and internal fetal monitoring, IUPC placement and calibration, and recognition/treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
- Experience with labor and delivery management including C-section circulation, hemorrhage/shock response, vaginal and high-risk deliveries
- Skilled in antepartum and postpartum care, neonatal delivery room care, IV therapy, phlebotomy, and medication administration (Magnesium Sulfate, Pitocin, antihypertensives, insulin drips, etc.)
- Experience with pain management modalities including epidural anesthesia, general anesthesia, PCA, and IV conscious sedation (preferred)
- Epic EMR experience required
- Two professional references required for consideration
