Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Acute/IMC unit specializing in school-age and burn care patients, requiring a minimum of 2 years of pediatric nursing experience and Epic proficiency.
Responsibilities
- Inpatient pediatric unit (Bloomberg 10 South) within a large academic hospital setting (500+ bed facility)
- Patient population ranges from a few months to 23 years old
- Medical diagnoses include cystic fibrosis, asthma, diabetes, renal failure, burns, and seizures; surgical cases include neurologic, orthopedic, genitourinary, plastic, and ENT procedures
- Mixed Acute Care and IMC unit; acute care nurse-to-patient ratio is 4:1 and IMC ratio is 3:1
- Travelers care for general pediatric patients only — burn unit and EMU patient populations are excluded from traveler assignments
- Rotating 7A/7P 12-hour shifts
- Every other weekend rotation required
- Two 12-hour on-call shifts required per schedule
- Holiday coverage required as needed by the unit
- Uses Epic EMR
- Travel nursing experience is preferred but not required
- Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate
- This is a high-acuity academic medical center — strong clinical candidates are encouraged to apply
Requirements
- Active RN license — Maryland or Compact license required
- Current BLS certification required
- PALS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of pediatric nursing experience required
- Epic experience required
- Experience in a comparable large hospital setting (500+ beds) required
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- Active licensure documentation required
- One professional reference required for consideration
