Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Clinical Decision Unit position requiring telemetry competency and a minimum of 2 years of experience.

Details

• 13-week travel contract at an inpatient hospital unit in Asheville, NC
• PCU / Clinical Decision Unit serving as an overflow unit with a mixed level of care, including medical-surgical and step-down patients
• Specializes in short-stay patients with a length of stay under 24 hours, resulting in quick patient turnover
• 20-bed unit staffed with 1 charge nurse, 4 RNs, and 2 CNAs per shift (day and night)
• Patient ratio of 1:5, with stretch to 1:6 depending on level of care
• All patients with telemetry indications are hardwired to bedside monitors
• EMR: Cerner
• Day shift: 6:15 AM – 7:15 PM
• Every other weekend required; no on-call required
• Travelers may be required to float to other units as needed

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required for PCU RNs
• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU or progressive care experience required
• Telemetry competency is required
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
• One professional reference required
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Recent progressive care experience is preferred and will be prioritized
• Ideal candidates are positive, patient-experience focused, compassionate, and strong team players
• Scrub colors: navy and/or white top, navy bottoms, or all white
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
• Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start
