Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a Med/Surg position on a 3rd floor Resource Team (Nursing Resource Pool) in Lafayette, IN, requiring prior travel Med/Surg experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Night shift position, 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM
• 13-week contract
• Inpatient Med/Surg unit on the 3rd floor, part of the Nursing Resource Pool
• Patient population includes orthopedic and general surgery, back surgeries, GI, renal, oncology, and general medical patients
• Patient ratios of 1:5 to 1:6 on a 27–30 bed unit
• Every third weekend required (Saturday and Sunday, 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM)
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required between three Med/Surg units within the Lafayette campus
• EMR: Epic (experience required)
• Equipment includes Alaris pumps, Kangaroo pumps, vein light, Pyxis medication dispensing, and Vocera communication devices

Requirements

• Active IN or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 3 years of Med/Surg RN experience required
• Prior travel Med/Surg nursing experience required
• Telemetry experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
• US Social Security Number required
• EKG test must be completed as part of the consideration process (2 attempts allowed; if failed, may reapply in 30 days)

Additional Information

• Preferred experience includes general and orthopedic post-op care, Heparin drip management, and blood administration
• Prior to the first day, computer-based training (CBT) modules must be completed before attending clinical orientation
• Candidates with Epic experience within the past year may have the opportunity to test out of additional Epic education
• Navy blue scrubs required; non-Franciscan branded sweatshirts or jackets and facial piercings are not permitted
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible to apply at a reduced bill rate
• Ideal candidates are self-directed, comfortable in a fast-paced environment, and willing to be flexible
