Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a Level 1 Trauma Center position requiring strong scrub and circulate skills, with a mandatory float policy and every-other-weekend requirement.
Details
- Operating Room (OR) unit within a Level 1 Trauma Center hospital setting
- Day shift schedule: 5x8s, 10:00 AM–8:30 PM
- Every other weekend required (2 weekends per month)
- On-call requirement: one 10-hour shift per month on a Saturday or Sunday (7 AM–7 PM or 7 PM–7 AM); no weekday call
- Patient population includes Ortho, Ortho Trauma, Vascular, Urology, and General Surgery cases
- Preferred case experience includes Neurosurgery (craniotomy and spine), Open Heart/Thoracic, Ophthalmology, ENT, Bariatric, and Gynecology
- Charting performed in Cerner
- This is a mandatory float facility — all clinicians are required to float at the facility's discretion, including potentially to units outside their primary area of competency
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required; no pending licensure accepted
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care OR experience required
- Level 1 Trauma Center experience required
- Strong scrub and circulate skills required
- Experience in Ortho, Ortho Trauma, Vascular, Urology, and General Surgery required
- Candidates must reside within 75 miles of the facility
- Proof of COVID vaccination required; no exceptions
Additional Information
- Scrubs are provided in Navy Blue
- RTO is capped at 5 days for the contract, with no more than 2 consecutive days off at a time
- No RTO approved on weekends, on holidays, or the day before or after a holiday
- No block scheduling or special scheduling requests will be approved
- Floating may occur to any Cook County facility within a 50-mile radius, with as little as 2 hours' notice before a shift; refusal to float may result in contract cancellation
- When floated outside of primary competency, a team-based care model is utilized
- Local candidates are accepted and preferred
