Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a Level 1 Trauma Center position requiring strong scrub and circulate skills and a minimum of 2 years of acute care OR experience.

Details

  • Operating Room unit within a Level 1 Trauma Center hospital setting
  • Patient population includes Ortho, Ortho Trauma, Vascular, Urology, and General Surgery cases
  • Preferred experience includes Neurosurgery (cranial and spine), Open Heart/Thoracic, Ophthalmology, ENT, Bariatric, and Gynecology
  • Day shift schedule: 5x8-hour shifts, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM; no block scheduling permitted
  • On-call requirement: one 10-hour shift per month on a Saturday or Sunday (7 AM–7 PM or 7 PM–7 AM); no weekday call
  • Every other weekend required (2 weekends per month)
  • Floating is mandatory at the facility's discretion, including to other Cook County facilities up to 50 miles away; travelers may receive float notification as little as 2 hours before their shift
  • Charting system: Cerner

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license required; pending licensure is not accepted
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent acute care OR experience required
  • Level 1 Trauma Center experience required
  • Strong scrub and circulate skills required
  • Experience in Ortho, Ortho Trauma, Vascular, Urology, and General Surgery required
  • Must reside within 75 miles of the facility
  • Proof of COVID vaccination required; no exceptions

Additional Information

  • Provide surgical nursing care with both scrub and circulating responsibilities across a high-acuity, trauma-level OR
  • Travelers may be floated to a variety of units, including outside their primary area of competency; a team-based model is used in those instances
  • Navy blue scrubs required and are provided by the facility
  • RTO is capped at 5 days for the contract, with no more than 2 consecutive days off at a time; no RTO on weekends, holidays, or the day before or after a holiday
  • Local candidates are accepted and preferred
