Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level II Trauma Emergency Department position at a high-volume Magnet-designated hospital in Asheville, NC, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ER experience and multiple certifications prior to start.

Details

• Work in a 101-bed Emergency Care Center at a Level II trauma and comprehensive stroke center
• High-volume ED with over 100,000 annual visits
• Patient ratios are typically 4:1 for medical patients and up to 7:1 for behavioral health holds
• Support staff includes ED techs (cardiac monitoring and internal processing areas), triage staff, and unit clerks on days and nights
• Equipment includes Baxter pumps and GE monitors
• Documentation via Cerner
• Day shift: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
• Every other weekend required; scheduling must meet department needs and block scheduling is not available
• No floating outside the ED; however, flexibility to float between all sections within the ED is required

Requirements

• Active NC or Compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year in an ER setting
• Experience in a Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, or high-volume ED (100,000+ visits) strongly preferred
• Required certifications prior to start: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI (or accepted equivalent such as SAMA, MAB, or ACPMA), NIHSS
• ENPC required within 90 days of start
• All certifications must be from AHA or ARC and must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment
• Previous HCA experience preferred
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• One professional reference required (two required if from Florida or Missouri)
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates will not be considered
• Navy scrubs are required
• Patient experience standards include AIDET, respectful behavior, updating patient boards, and keeping patients informed throughout their visit
