Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a CVICU Float Pool position in Asheville, NC, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and proficiency with advanced cardiac support equipment.

Details

• Located in the CVICU of an acute care hospital in Asheville, NC
• 16-bed Cardiovascular ICU unit housed in J Building
• Patient population consists of critically ill cardiovascular patients requiring advanced hemodynamic monitoring and support
• Patient ratios are 2:1 or 1:1, with occasional 3:1 depending on acuity
• Equipment used includes ventilators, telemetry, Baxter IV pumps, IABP, CRRT, Impella, and hypothermia devices
• Procedures performed on the unit include cardioversion, central line insertion, EGD, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertions, pericardiocentesis, and thoracentesis
• Charting is performed in Cerner
• Schedule is 12-hour day shifts (6:45 AM–7:15 PM), 36 hours per week, with alternating weekends
• Travelers are required to float to all areas of the facility
• RN-only unit with no HUC or PCT support

Requirements

• Active NC or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
• NIH Stroke Scale certification required for this CVICU role
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required
• Must demonstrate proficiency in titration of vesicant medications, pressors, sedation, and paralytics
• Experience with ventilators and tracheostomy management required
• Telemetry interpretation skills required
• Understanding of hemodynamics and PA catheter setup and interpretation required
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
• One professional reference required (two required if licensed in Florida or Missouri)
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• CCRN certification is recommended; IABP, Impella, and CRRT experience are highly desirable
• Familiarity with transvenous pacing, cardioversion, TEE, and chest tube maintenance is a plus
• Required scrub colors are all navy or navy and white; no pullovers, hoodies, or green scrubs
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible for this position
• 13-week contract
