Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position at a Magnet-designated, Level II trauma center hospital in Asheville, NC, requiring 2+ years of L&D experience and high-risk obstetric skills.

Details

Labor & Delivery unit (Unit 707) located on the 4th floor of a 16-bed unit within a large 815-bed Magnet-designated hospital
Day shift: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
Patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 depending on acuity
EMR: Cerner and Fetal Ink
Equipment includes Baxter pumps and Philips electronic fetal monitoring
Common procedures include vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, D&C, cerclage, and cesarean hysterectomy
Floating may be required to MFMU, Mother-Baby, and NICU units
Weekends and on-call are not required but may be available upon approval
13-week contract

Requirements

Active NC or compact RN license required
Current certifications required: BLS/ACLS, NRP (Advanced 9th Edition, American Academy of Pediatrics card), and Advanced Fetal Monitoring (intermediate or advanced AWHONN, or NCCEFM)
Minimum 2+ years of L&D experience required
High-risk obstetric experience required
Immediate newborn care experience required
Circulating experience preferred
US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
One professional reference required (two required for candidates licensed in Florida or Missouri)

Additional Information

Hospital is a Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, and includes a Level III NICU and the region's only children's hospital
Unit team consists of charge nurses, PCTs, CSTs, and RNs on both day and night shifts
Scrubs are provided by the facility
Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start date
AHA or ARC certifications are accepted
