Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel Occupational Therapist for a 13-week contract at an HCA-affiliated hospital in Austin, TX, with required neuro experience across acute, inpatient rehab (IPR), and outpatient (OP) settings.

Details

Work across a Rehab Hospital and Acute Hospital, covering IPR, OP, and acute settings
Tuesday through Saturday schedule, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (10-hour shifts on weekdays/weekends)
Weekend rotation required, approximately 1–2 weekend days per 4-week period based on weekday utilization
75% direct patient care per 8-hour shift
64-bed IPR unit and 400-bed acute hospital with full outpatient services
Patient population includes neuro cases: spinal cord injury (SCI), brain injury (BI), stroke rehab, and amputee care
Facility is an HCA Center of Excellence for Stroke, SCI, and Amputee care, and is Comprehensive Stroke Certified

Requirements

Active OT license required (license required if applicable)
Minimum 1 year of OT experience; allied candidates must have at least 6 months of experience within the last 6 months
Neuro background required, including SCI, brain injury, and stroke rehab
Experience across multiple settings — acute, IPR, and OP — required
Current BLS certification required (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
US SSN and DOB required for consideration — no Canadian SSNs accepted
One professional reference required (two required for candidates licensed in Florida or Missouri)
No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — no local candidates accepted

Additional Information

Follow daily schedule, coordinate with the interdisciplinary team, and consistently meet productivity standards
Ability to transition between multiple programs (IPR, acute, OP) on any given day is strongly preferred
Familiarity with IPR post-acute guidelines and the CARE tool assessment is a plus
Team of approximately 160 staff across PT and OT disciplines
Caribbean blue scrubs required
Organized, collaborative, and communicative candidates are the best fit for this team
