Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Telemetry position on a Surgical Oncology unit in Austin, TX, requiring at least 1 year of med/surg experience and BLS certification.
Details
- 34-bed Surgical Oncology / Med-Surg Telemetry unit operating 24/7, 7 days a week
- Serves young adult through geriatric patient populations with general medical/surgical and surgical oncology cases
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (12-hour shifts)
- Day shift staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 6 RNs, and 3 PCTs; night shift includes 1 charge nurse, 6 RNs, and 2 PCTs
- Equipment includes Welch Allyn Vital Signs monitors and GE Telemetry Monitoring
- EMR: MediTech
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call required
- Chemotherapy administration performed on unit (chemotherapy certification required to perform)
Requirements
- Active TX RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
- Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required for Tele RNs
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg RN experience required
- Chemotherapy (ONC) certification required for all RNs working in an oncology setting
- ACLS preferred
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
Additional Information
- Unit provides modified total patient care including 24-hour cardiac telemetry monitoring
- Outgoing, team-oriented candidates are the best cultural fit for this unit
- Navy scrubs required
- The unit has been recognized with 1 ICARE Award and 3 Daisy Award winners
- One professional reference required (two required for candidates from Florida or Missouri)
- 13-week contract
