Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) position at a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and teaching hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Pediatric Cardiac ICU experience and Epic proficiency.

- 20-bed Pediatric CVICU within a 247-licensed-bed Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and teaching hospital, ranked #7 nationally for Congenital Cardiology by USNWR
- High-acuity pediatric patient population ages 0–18 with congenital heart conditions, post-surgical care, pre- and post-transplant management, s/p cath lab, ventricular assistive devices, ECMO, Impella, dialysis, and Aquadex (renal replacement therapy)
- Patient ratios vary by acuity: 2:1, 1:1, or 1:2
- Unit is divided into two mirrored 10-bed sides with a centralized nurses station; most critical patients are positioned adjacent to the station
- 12-hour day and night shifts available (0645–1845 / 1845–0645), 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation of 3–4 weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) within a 6-week scheduling cycle
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays
- Floating required to PICU, NICU, and General Pediatrics as needed
- EMR: Epic (experience required)
- Additional equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current certifications: BLS, PALS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Cardiac ICU experience in a comparable-acuity facility
- Experience with fresh open-heart post-op patients and transplant patients
- Hands-on experience with Aquadex (renal replacement therapy), Impella, and ECMO devices
- Epic EMR experience required
- Ability to float to PICU as assessed during interview
- Candidate's permanent address must be located more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

- Unit support includes a health care tech per day shift, a unit secretary every shift, a free-floating charge nurse, a free-floating resource nurse, IV/VAT team, in-house phlebotomy (rarely utilized due to high central line prevalence), RT 24/7, cardiologist 24/7, and intensivist 24/7
- Centralized and bedside cardiac monitoring available; no telemetry monitoring tech on unit
- Orientation includes facility NEO followed by 2 days of departmental orientation
- RTO requires manager approval
- Scrub color: Navy
- On-site parking is available at no cost
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates who have worked a permanent position at an AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
