Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level IV NICU position at a children's hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Level III-IV NICU experience and night shift availability.
Details
- Level IV NICU at a 152-bed children's hospital with 70 NICU beds and a typical census of around 50 patients
- NICU is part of a pediatric hospital attached to an adult hospital, featuring private rooms and a high-risk labor and delivery unit
- Patient population includes premature infants as early as 22 weeks gestation, RDS, high-risk deliveries, feeders/growers, and NAS; preferred experience with surgical patients and HIE (Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy)
- 12-hour night shifts, with shift times of 0700–1930 or 1900–0730
- Every other weekend rotation required; back-to-back weekends possible but rare
- No on-call responsibilities
- Block scheduling is possible
- Occasional floating to the ER to act as a sitter, though rare
- EMR: Epic
- 36 hours per week on a 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active WA state RN license or compact license accepted (pending license considered if proof of application is provided)
- Current certifications: BLS and NRP required
- Minimum 2 years of Level III or IV NICU experience required
- Proficiency with respiratory support including mechanical ventilation required
- Experience with G-tubes, NG/OG tubes, NCPAP, UAC/UVC management, and PICC lines required
- Tracheostomy experience highly preferred but not required
- Skills in medication administration, care plan development, and discharge-to-home planning required
- At least one supervisor-level reference (Charge Nurse, Manager, or Director) required for consideration; a second reference will be needed prior to start
Additional Information
- Provide high-acuity neonatal nursing care including respiratory management, vascular access care, and complex discharge planning
- Candidates with a positive, friendly attitude and strong teamwork skills are highly encouraged to apply
- First-time travelers will be considered, though travel experience is strongly preferred
- Scrubs of any color are acceptable
