Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a PACU/Endoscopy position requiring a DC RN license, ACLS, PALS, and at least 2 years of relevant experience.
Details
- Work setting is a PACU and GI/Endoscopy Suite in an inpatient hospital environment
- Patient care focuses on pre- and post-operative and pre/post-endoscopy procedures
- Schedule is Monday–Friday, 4x10-hour day shifts with staggered start times (0730–1800 or 0800–1830); one late coverage shift per week
- No on-call, no weekend, and no holiday requirements
- Floating within the GI Suite per clinical competency
- Charting system is Cerner (required)
Requirements
- Active DC RN license required; pending DC licensure accepted if application has been submitted and license is in hand prior to start date
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
- Minimum 2 years of experience in inpatient endoscopy, PACU, or pre-op settings
- Phase I PACU, Phase II Recovery, and ambulatory/outpatient experience preferred
- Prior charge nurse experience preferred
- Proficiency with airway assessment and respiratory care
- Experience administering antihypertensives, emergency medications, IV vasopressors, and opioid analgesics
- IV therapy and phlebotomy skills required
- Cerner EMR experience required
- Two supervisor references required (within the past 2 years)
- Flu vaccination required
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include pre-op assessment and education, medication reconciliation, obtaining operative/procedural consent, reviewing history and physicals, and post-procedure follow-up calls
- Pain assessment and management is a key component of daily care
- First-time travelers will be considered but must be screened prior to placement
- Candidates who have previously worked at MedStar must have been separated for a minimum of one year before returning as a traveler
- Candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are considered local; local candidates are accepted at a different rate
- A driver's license must be provided, and the candidate's address must match their driver's license for local radius determination
- No time off permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment; no more than 7 days of RTO per 13-week contract, and all RTO must be declared upfront
- Facility-specific compliance modules must be completed within one week of contract signing
