Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Mixed Acuity PCU position at a short-term acute care hospital in Indiana, requiring solid neuro experience and Cerner proficiency.
Details
- Mixed acuity Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within a 194-bed short-term acute care hospital
- Unit serves both medical-surgical and progressive care patients, with specialties including oncology, stroke, cardiac, gastrointestinal, and pulmonary
- MS patients are assigned at a 1:5–6 ratio; PCU patients at a 1:3–4 ratio
- Drip management includes Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Insulin drips
- Patients include unstable strokes and those requiring BiPAP support
- Day shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:00 AM–6:30 PM
- 4x12-hour shift schedule may also be available
- Charting via Cerner (experience required)
- Floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
Requirements
- Active Indiana (IN) RN license or valid Compact RN license required; IN temporary license accepted if in hand prior to start
- Current certifications required: BLS (AHA or RQI), ACLS (AHA or RQI), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 18 months to 2 years of RN experience required
- Solid neuro nursing experience required
- Background in MS/Tele or PCU nursing accepted
- Cerner EMR experience required
- Nursing degree from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited program required

- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are not accepted for this PCU position
- Travelers must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Up to 5 days of RTO may be auto-approved
- Former permanent or PRN employees of this health system must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Indiana-licensed RNs are generally not permitted to work at IU Health facilities in non-exempt roles; this PCU position is subject to that restriction — confirm eligibility prior to submission
- Dress code: Red top, black bottoms
- Parking is free
