Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Acuity Adaptable Unit (AAU) ICU position requiring telemetry skills, ACLS/BLS certifications, and a minimum of 3 years of experience.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting in an 18-bed Acuity Adaptable Unit (AAU)
- Patient population includes cardiac, stroke, respiratory failure, DKA, and sepsis cases
- Nurse-to-patient ratios vary by level of care: 2:1 for ICU-level care, 3:1 or 4:1 for IMC-level care
- RNs are required to titrate drips
- RNs must have knowledge of and ability to troubleshoot ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen devices, and provide basic oral care for ventilated patients
- Telemetry monitoring uses Philips monitors with a central monitoring station on the unit; RNs must be able to analyze cardiac rhythms independently
- EMR: Epic
- Charting system experience in Epic is used on this unit
- Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week
- Self-scheduling and block scheduling are accommodated
- 3–4 weekend shifts (Friday/Saturday for nights or Saturday/Sunday for days) are required within each 4-week period
- No on-call or standby requirement
- Potential to float within the hospital to med/surg or inpatient rehab
Requirements
- Active Indiana (IN) or Compact RN license required
- Current AHA certifications required: BLS and ACLS
- Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
- ICU or IMC/PCU stepdown experience required; telemetry experience is essential
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; candidates within 50 miles will not be considered
- Candidates within 50–100 miles may be considered under a local rate structure
Additional Information
- Responsible for titrating drips and managing critical care interventions for a mixed acuity patient population
- An ICU-trained charge nurse serves as the Rapid Response nurse each shift and is ideally not assigned to a patient load
- PCTs are available depending on census (generally 1 per shift) to assist with vitals, I/O monitoring, patient transfers, meals, and call lights
- A hospitalist is in-house 24/7, though not stationed in the ICU
- A Respiratory Therapist is assigned to the unit every shift
- Two unit-specific orientation shifts are provided
- Holiday coverage required: two summer holidays (chosen from Easter, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day) and two winter holidays (chosen from Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve/Day)
- Navy scrubs required
- 13-week assignment
