Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Interventional Radiology position at a quaternary care teaching hospital in Newark, NJ, requiring Epic proficiency and hands-on procedural experience including moderate sedation administration.
Details
- Day shift, Sunday–Thursday, 9:00 AM–5:30 PM (5x8-hour shifts)
- Interventional Radiology unit serving a high-acuity patient population including cardiac and transplant cases
- Procedures include vascular, oncologic, and complex interventions such as TIPS, chemoembolization, liver biopsy/ablation, pulmonary angiography/embolization, uterine arterial embolization, nephrostomy, renal angiography/stent, lung biopsy, thoracentesis, paracentesis, and chest tube placement
- Nurse responsibilities include circulating IR procedures and administering moderate sedation
- Skills utilized include central line insertion/management, PICC care, implanted ports, IV therapy, infusion pump management, blood product administration, end-tidal CO2 monitoring, procedural sedation monitoring, and radiation/laser safety
- Epic EMR experience required
- Every other weekend shift required
- Floating within skillset is required
- Holiday coverage required (must work 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays based on unit needs)
Requirements
- Active NJ or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Proficiency with PICC and Midline placement; ability to administer moderate sedation and circulate in IR procedures required
- Candidates with procedural experience (OR/CVOR), ICU/CCU background without procedural experience, or Cath Lab experience will also be considered
- SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- Two current professional references required for consideration
- Copies of current certifications required for consideration

- Large quaternary care teaching hospital affiliated with Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, nationally recognized for cardiac and transplant programs, including one of the nation's largest heart transplant centers and New Jersey's only Advanced Lung Disease and Transplant Program
- Part of RWJBarnabas Health (RWJBH), the state's largest integrated healthcare system
- Former RWJBH employees (full-time or PRN) must have been separated from the RWJBH health system for a minimum of 1 year before being eligible for a travel assignment
- All RTO and schedule requests must be submitted prior to offer; no requests will be approved after an offer is made
- Local candidates are accepted

Staff and management are very friendly. The ratios are pretty good. Sometimes it gets very busy and sometimes transport is put in by someone else before you even have the patient ready to go. They are very flexible with scheduling and their weekend requirements are reasonable.
