Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Operating Room position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated academic medical center in Charleston, SC, requiring a SC or compact RN license and at least 2 years of OR experience.

Details

• Work setting is a Level I Trauma Center, teaching facility, and Magnet-designated hospital with 820 staffed beds
• The Main OR consists of 21 suites covering all surgical specialties including Trauma, Transplant, Ortho, Neuro, ENT, GU-GYN, and Robotics
• Nursing team is composed of 75% RNs and 25% Certified Surgical Technologists; RNs are trained to both scrub and circulate
• Schedule is 4x10-hour day shifts, Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM–5:00 PM
• Up to 4 on-call shifts per month (end of shift through 7:00 AM)
• Up to 1 weekend shift per month (6:30 AM–7:00 PM)
• Floating within scope to meet facility needs or between like units/sister facilities is required
• Charting is performed in Epic

Requirements

• Active SC RN license or compact (multi-state) RN license required; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered
• Current AHA certifications required: BLS
• Radiation badge required (provided by agency)
• Minimum 2 years of OR RN experience strongly preferred
• Level I Trauma Center experience required
• Scrub experience strongly preferred
• SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

• RNs are responsible for both scrubbing and circulating surgical procedures across a wide range of specialties
• Pre-start orientation modules are required and completed before the assignment begins
• Travelers must work at least one holiday period; covered holidays include Christmas (Dec 24–26) and New Year's (Dec 31–Jan 1)
• All RTO requests must be submitted at time of consideration and are subject to facility approval
• Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility are considered local; non-local candidates are prioritized
• Local candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis
• Previous permanent or PRN staff at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• During hurricane season (June–November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams; peak activity months are August and September
