Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Operating Room position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated academic medical center in Charleston, SC, requiring a SC or compact RN license and at least 2 years of OR experience.
Details
- Work setting is a Level I Trauma Center, teaching facility, and Magnet-designated hospital with 820 staffed beds
- The Main OR consists of 21 suites covering all surgical specialties including Trauma, Transplant, Ortho, Neuro, ENT, GU-GYN, and Robotics
- Nursing team is composed of 75% RNs and 25% Certified Surgical Technologists; RNs are trained to both scrub and circulate
- Schedule is 4x10-hour day shifts, Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM–5:00 PM
- Up to 4 on-call shifts per month (end of shift through 7:00 AM)
- Up to 1 weekend shift per month (6:30 AM–7:00 PM)
- Floating within scope to meet facility needs or between like units/sister facilities is required
- Charting is performed in Epic
Requirements
- Active SC RN license or compact (multi-state) RN license required; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered
- Current AHA certifications required: BLS
- Radiation badge required (provided by agency)
- Minimum 2 years of OR RN experience strongly preferred
- Level I Trauma Center experience required
- Scrub experience strongly preferred
- SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
Additional Information
- RNs are responsible for both scrubbing and circulating surgical procedures across a wide range of specialties
- Pre-start orientation modules are required and completed before the assignment begins
- Travelers must work at least one holiday period; covered holidays include Christmas (Dec 24–26) and New Year's (Dec 31–Jan 1)
- All RTO requests must be submitted at time of consideration and are subject to facility approval
- Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility are considered local; non-local candidates are prioritized
- Local candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis
- Previous permanent or PRN staff at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
- First-time travelers are accepted for this position
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- During hurricane season (June–November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams; peak activity months are August and September
