Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Mixed Acuity PCU position at a short-term acute care hospital, requiring solid neuro experience and Cerner proficiency on night shifts.
Details
- Short-term acute care hospital with 194 staffed beds
- Mixed acuity unit covering both medical-surgical and progressive levels of care, with specialties including oncology, stroke, cardiac, gastrointestinal, and pulmonary
- MS patient ratio is 1:5-6; PCU patient ratio is 1:3-4
- Patients include unstable strokes and those requiring BiPap support
- Administers cardizem, amiodarone, and insulin drips
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:00–06:30)
- Floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
- Charting via Cerner (experience required)
- Free parking on-site
- Scrub color: red top, black bottoms
- Local candidates are not accepted for this position
Requirements
- Active IN state RN license, compact license, or IN temporary license required prior to start
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA and RQI formats accepted)
- Minimum 18 months to 2 years of RN experience required
- Solid neuro nursing experience required
- Background in MS/Tele or PCU nursing accepted
- Cerner EMR experience required
- Nursing degree from a program accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Up to 5 days of RTO may be auto-approved
- Former permanent or PRN employees of IU Health must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Note: As of 11/30/2024, IU Health does not allow IN-based RNs to work at their facilities in MS, PCU, ICU, or ER roles — only travelers residing outside of Indiana are eligible for this position
