Description

American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist (PT) for a 13-week inpatient acute care assignment at a Level 2 trauma center, with experience in adult and pediatric ICU, neuro, ortho, and trauma settings highly valued.

Details

• Acute inpatient care setting at a Level 2 trauma and primary stroke center
• Patient population includes adult and pediatric ICU, acute inpatient rehab, Level 2 trauma, primary stroke, same-day discharge joint program, neuro, ortho, general med/surg, oncology, and a pediatric inpatient rehab program
• Therapist caseload averages approximately 9 evaluations and 16 treatments per day
• Coverage may be required across all inpatient areas including adult and pediatric acute inpatient, ICUs, and acute inpatient rehab
• Charting system is Cerner, with a transition to Epic underway
• Day shift, 8 hours, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday
• Weekend and holiday coverage required on a rotational basis with compensatory days scheduled
• Self-scheduling is not available; schedule is assigned

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of physical therapy experience required
• Active PT license required by start date; license required if applicable
• Current BLS certification (AHA) required
• Experience in adult ICU, acute neuro, Level 1 and/or 2 trauma, ortho, and cardiac settings is beneficial
• Strong mobility evaluation and clinical documentation skills required
• Strong verbal and written communication skills required
• Ability to work flexibly across multiple inpatient care areas
• 2 professional references required for consideration: 1 supervisor reference from within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years of relevant experience

Additional Information

• Daily responsibilities include mobility evaluations, clinical documentation supporting next level of care decisions, and treatment across a high-volume inpatient caseload
• Department team includes 1 rehab aide and 3 PTAs
• Orientation length varies based on individual skill level
• PT professionals at this facility are required to complete a client credentialing process; this process can take up to 2 months or longer depending on onboarding completion, including state licensure
• Candidates who have previously worked at this facility must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their submission date
• Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility are considered local, which may affect the travel pay rate
• Any solid color, clean and professional scrubs are acceptable
