Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a CVOR (Cardiovascular OR) position at a Level II trauma center hospital in Asheville, NC, requiring at least 2 years of experience and active BLS and ACLS certifications.

- Position is located in the CV PreOp unit (The Heart Tower) of a large 815-bed regional referral hospital in Asheville, NC
- Hospital holds a three-star rating from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) and is recognized as one of America's 50 Best Hospitals by Healthgrades
- Facility is the only provider of open heart and interventional cardiology services in the region and operates the busiest robotic surgery program in the Carolinas
- Patient ratio is 1:1 in a 4-bed PreOp unit
- Unit staffing includes RNs with support from a CNC, secretary, and manager, shared with the CVOR
- Equipment used includes GE Carescape monitoring and Fuji ultrasound
- Documentation system is Cerner
- Schedule is Monday–Friday, 5:00 AM–1:30 PM
- On-call requirement includes staying late 1–2 times per week
- Floating is required within the candidate's scope of practice and experience
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active NC RN license or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA or ARC accepted; certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start date)
- Minimum 2 years of recent CVOR/cardiovascular surgery RN experience required
- Critical care experience is required; PreOp experience is a plus
- Proficiency with BCMA and Cerner documentation
- Strong critical thinking skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Excellent communication skills with interdepartmental teams
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required (two required for candidates from Florida or Missouri)
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include large-bore IV starts, chin-to-toe hair removal, medication administration, skin assessment, and assisting with arterial line, central line, and epidural placement
- Additional duties include transporting patients to the OR and assisting with induction/intubation, patient positioning, and skin prep
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible for this position
