Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Post Surgical Unit position requiring acute care surgical floor experience, with stepdown/PCU experience also required.
Details
- Post Surgical Unit (4E) in an acute care hospital setting
- Cares for pre- and post-operative inpatients including ENT and transplant patients; ENT and/or transplant experience is preferred
- Patient care involves complex wound management including new drains, wounds, trachs, ostomies, NGTs, and DHTs
- Patient ratios are 5:1 for surgical patients and 3:1 for stepdown patients
- Unit also accommodates stepdown-level care patients
- Night shift, 12-hour days, 3 days per week (36 hours/week)
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active OK RN license or a current multistate compact (eNLC) RN license required
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required
- Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required
- Acute care surgical floor experience required
- Stepdown/PCU experience required
- OR (operating room) experience alone will not be accepted
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program required; BSN preferred
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include managing assigned patient groups, administering medications, initiating and monitoring IV infusions and blood products, and documenting patient responses to nursing interventions
- Collaborates with physicians during examinations and minor diagnostic procedures
- Engages patients and families in care planning throughout the hospital stay and at discharge
- Delegates tasks to support staff as appropriate
- Candidates who have previously worked at this facility must have a 6-month separation period after completing 26 weeks (one contract plus one extension) before being eligible to return
- Compliance requirements are strictly enforced — onboarding (drug screens, background checks, and medical requirements) must begin immediately upon accepting an offer
