Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Post-Surgical travel position in Hickory, NC, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and Cerner proficiency.
Details
- Post-Surgical North floor of a 355-bed Duke LifePoint Hospital with comprehensive specialty services including orthopedics, general and vascular surgery, neurology, and oncology
- 18-bed unit serving an adult and geriatric medical/surgical patient population
- Patient ratio of 1:5–1:6
- Common diagnoses include COPD exacerbation, GI bleed, diabetic complications, wound care, pancreatitis, sickle cell crisis, sepsis, infection, and end-of-life/hospice care
- Equipment used includes Baxter IV pumps, SCD machines, Kangaroo feeding pumps, and PCA pumps
- EMR: Cerner (experience required)
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required as needed to surgical, neuro, and intermediate units (med/surg level patients only)
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active RN license — NC or compact state license required
- Current AHA certifications: BLS
- Minimum 2 years of med/surg nursing experience
- Experience with post-surgical patients required; orthopedic experience strongly preferred
- Cerner EMR experience required
- IV competency required
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (ADN or BSN)
- Social Security number and date of birth required for consideration
Additional Information
- Charge nurse experience is preferred
- Team players with strong patient advocacy skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment are encouraged to apply
- Orientation is offered twice monthly
- Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Candidates who have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months are not eligible
- Candidates who are employed full-time elsewhere are not eligible
- Any color scrubs are acceptable
