Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) position in Reno, NV, requiring a minimum of 2 years of IMC/Stepdown experience and an active NV RN license prior to start.
Details
- 18-bed Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) within a Level II Trauma Center and stroke-accredited, 800-bed inpatient hospital
- Patient population includes general medical cases such as post-ischemic/hemorrhagic stroke, sepsis, cardiac, and respiratory conditions
- Patients require moderately complex assessments, moderately intensive therapies, and moderate levels of nursing vigilance
- Shift: 3x12 nights, 1845–0715
- Floating to other units up to the traveler's competency level may be required
- Telemetry monitoring is used; travelers must pass an ECG/Telemetry exam prior to assignment
- EMR: Epic (training provided during orientation, or candidates may test out)
- No on-call requirements
- Schedule may include weekends, holidays, and some call shifts
Requirements
- Active NV RN license required prior to start (RNs who have never held a NV temp or permanent license may still apply but must apply immediately upon offer)
- Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of IMC/Stepdown experience required
- Medical/Neuro ICU experience preferred
- Demonstrated experience with vasopressors, titratable drips, arterial lines, neuro-stepdown patients, procedural sedation, thrombolytics, and trach management
- Ability to read and interpret rhythm strips/ECG (telemetry exam required; failure results in contract termination)
- SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provides comprehensive nursing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation across the episode of care
- Coordinates care in a collaborative, multidisciplinary, patient-centered environment
- Extremely high-volume, fast-paced environment serving a 500-mile regional radius; pace is comparable to a Level I Trauma Center
- Travelers must work a minimum of 2 of 3 major holidays (Eve + Day counts as 1 holiday)
- May be required to pick up one additional shift per 13-week schedule period
- 13-week contract; no blocked scheduling allowed
- Travelers who have previously worked at this facility must take a 13-week break after their last contract before returning, regardless of the number of prior contracts or extensions
- RTO requests must be submitted at the time of profile consideration and will not be made up at the end of the contract
- Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- Kronos used for time keeping
- IMCU setting serves adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
