  • Start Date: Jun 8, 2026
  • Length: 13 weeks

Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry Float Pool position at a Level I Trauma Center in Arizona, requiring the ability to titrate cardiac drips and prior telemetry experience.

Details

  • Acute care setting at a Level I Trauma Center
  • Assignment in the Telemetry Float Pool, floating between CV Tele, Neuro Tele, and MedSurg units — including any holding areas (Cath Lab, ER, observation floor)
  • Floating also occurs between two campuses approximately 9 miles apart; campus and unit assignment is communicated 1.5 hours prior to shift start, and mid-shift unit changes are possible
  • Patient ratios are 1:3–4 on Tele units and 1:4 on MedSurg units
  • Tele units use centralized telemetry monitoring; RNs must be able to interpret EKGs
  • MedSurg units use GE Monitors with a central monitoring station tech
  • Patient populations include post cath lab, post vascular procedures, CABG (day 2), CVAs post-TPA, post-craniotomy, spine, neuro surgical, and general MedSurg (surgical, ortho, oncology); minimum patient age is 15
  • Cardiac drip titration required, including Amiodarone, Cardene, Nitroglycerin, Heparin, and Dobutamine (titrate down only on some units)
  • Charting system: Cerner
  • 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM / 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), nights
  • 4 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday) per scheduling period required
  • Travelers are first to float
  • Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
  • RT, pharmacy, and charge nurses (without patient assignments) are available 24/7 on all units
  • PCTs are available at a ratio of 1 per 16 patients on Tele units; SWAT RN available for difficult IV access
  • Navy scrubs required

Requirements

  • Active AZ RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS — all must be active; pending certifications not accepted
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Telemetry experience required, including ability to interpret EKGs and titrate cardiac drips
  • Cerner EMR experience preferred
  • Driver's license required for consideration
  • 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
  • Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (permanent address as shown on driver's license) to qualify for the travel pay rate

Additional Information

  • Must pass a Relias Dysrhythmia exam (up to 2 attempts) prior to contract confirmation — failure on the second attempt results in a 6-month DNU status with this health system's AZ and Sacramento regions
  • A pass/fail sterile technique simulation lab (Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes) is administered on the first day of orientation — failure results in the same 6-month DNU consequence
  • Floor-specific orientation is 2 days/shifts per unit
  • Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any facility within this health system — including CHI and/or Dignity — within the past year are not eligible; candidates who worked PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
  • First-time travelers are not explicitly approved for this position given the exam and floating complexity requirements
American Traveler Job ID #P-709741. Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined. Posted job title: Travel RN - Telemetry
