Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Operating Room position at an ambulatory surgery center in Asheville, NC, requiring at least 1 year of OR experience with a mixed case load and BLS certification.
Details
- Position is based at an ambulatory surgery center in Asheville, NC
- 9 OR suites and 3 procedure rooms with a staff of 88
- 1:1 patient ratio in the OR; perianesthesia ratios depend on patient acuity
- Case mix includes ophthalmology, ortho/sports medicine/hands/foot & ankle, GYN/urology, plastics, general surgery, and pediatrics
- Typical procedures include cataracts, retina procedures, knee and shoulder arthroscopy, hand/foot/ankle procedures, gallbladder and hernia surgery, breast procedures, cystoscopy, prostate biopsy, pediatric dental, pediatric ortho and general, breast reconstruction, cosmetic procedures, hysteroscopy, and D&C
- Equipment used includes Stryker, Steris, and Smith & Nephew
- EMR: Cerner Surginet
- Shift hours are 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Late call required twice per week (C1: stay until last case completed; C2: backup to C1)
- Floating may be required to MOR, VOR, and Endo at the main campus
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active NC or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the start date)
- Minimum 1 year of recent OR experience with a mixed case load as listed above
- CNOR certification preferred
- Ambulatory surgery experience preferred
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- One professional reference required (candidates from Florida or Missouri must provide two references)
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Day shift staffing includes one Charge Nurse Coordinator (CNC) for OR and one CNC for Pre/Post Mon–Fri, with perianesthesia RNs staffed as needed by volume
- Minimum staffing per OR includes 1 CST and 1 RN per OR room, and 1 RN per procedure room
- Green scrubs are provided by the facility
- The surgery center is described as a close-knit, family-oriented team environment
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
- This position is not open to first-time travelers; a minimum of 1 year of OR experience is required
