Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Clinical Decision Unit position in Asheville, NC, requiring telemetry competency and a minimum of 2 years of experience.
Details
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Clinical Decision Unit located on the 2nd floor (D2) of a large 815-bed hospital campus in Asheville, NC
- 20-bed inpatient overflow unit serving a mixed level of care, including med-surg and step-down patients
- Primarily short-stay patients with a length of stay under 24 hours, resulting in quick patient turnover
- Patient ratio is 1:5, with a stretch of 1:6 depending on level of care
- All patients requiring telemetry monitoring are hardwired to bedside monitors
- EMR: Cerner
- Day shift: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM (12-hour shifts)
- Every other weekend required; no on-call responsibilities
- Travelers are required to float to other units as needed
Requirements
- Active NC RN license or a compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or ARC accepted; certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start date)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required for PCU RNs
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in progressive care or a related specialty
- Telemetry competency required
- Progressive care experience required
- Cerner EMR experience preferred
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- Professional reference(s) required: 1 reference for most states; 2 references required for candidates from Florida or Missouri
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Unit staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 4 RNs, and 2 CNAs per shift (day and night)
- Scrub colors: navy and/or white top, navy bottom, or all white
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply provided they meet all experience and certification requirements
