Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position at a short-term acute care hospital, requiring telemetry and cardiac care experience with night shift availability.
Details
- Work in a Cardiac and Medical PCU functioning as a true ICU stepdown unit in a short-term acute care hospital with 194 staffed beds
- Patient population includes cardiac cases such as heart catheterizations, BiPAP, and patients requiring vasoactive drips (e.g., Levo, Dopa, Nitro, Cardizem, Amio)
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:00–06:30
- Weekend availability required
- Floating within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital is required
- No on-call required
- Charting is performed in Cerner (experience required)
- Travel pairs are not accepted for this position
- Parking is free
Requirements
- Active Indiana (IN) or Compact RN license currently in hand — pending licenses are not accepted
- Current certifications required: ACLS and BLS (AHA or RQI accepted); NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) preferred
- Minimum 18 months of RN experience required
- Hands-on experience with telemetry, IV starts, cardiac and vasoactive drips, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen required
- Prior experience in a Level I, II, III, or IV facility required
- Vent management, charge nurse experience, and conscious sedation experience preferred
- Cerner EMR experience required
- Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program required
- Two supervisor professional references required
- SSN and DOB required for consideration

- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates (Indiana residents) are not accepted for this position
- Must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the contract
- Up to 5 days of RTO may be auto-approved
- Current or former permanent or PRN employees of IU Health must have been away for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health must take a consecutive break to reset eligibility: out-of-state residents require a 90-day break; in-state residents require a 180-day break
- Red top and black bottom scrubs required
