Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry unit requiring 2+ years of recent ortho/spine and telemetry experience, with night shift availability and every other weekend commitment.

Details

• Unit 5 East is a Med/Surg/Telemetry unit with mixed patient acuity, including post-surgical ortho/spine overflow
• Patient population includes general surgery, gynecology, urology, orthopedics, and spine, as well as patients presenting with cellulitis, back pain, and kidney stones
• RN-to-patient ratio is 5:1
• Proficiency with Heparin drips, TPN, PCA, and telemetry rhythm interpretation is required for this unit
• Current EMR is Epic
• Schedule is 12-hour night shifts (1900–0730), three shifts per week
• Every other weekend is required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating to all acute care units is required
• Holiday coverage is based on unit needs
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active KS RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent ortho/spine and telemetry experience in a hospital setting (within the last 18 months)
• Experience with a 5:1 RN patient ratio required
• Proficiency with Heparin drips, TPN, PCA, and telemetry rhythm interpretation required
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Two professional references required for consideration

Additional Information

• New graduates will not be considered for this position
• Orientation begins at the main campus (2 days), followed by Olathe facility orientation and Director of Nursing training, with virtual Epic training on day 5
• Local and travel candidates are accepted at the same bill rate
• This is a nicotine-free facility
• Clinicians are asked to minimize or avoid requesting time off during the FIFA World Cup (June 11 – July 19), as approvals during this period may be limited
