Description

American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist with 2+ years of experience for a 13-week travel assignment in a rural hospital setting on Kauai, HI, covering inpatient and outpatient care across multiple units.

Details

• Position is based at a rural hospital on Kauai, HI, requiring independent, well-rounded clinical practice
• Work spans inpatient (25%) and outpatient (75%) settings, including acute care, ICU, SNF, Med/Surg, ER, OB, and a hospital-based outpatient PT clinic
• Patient volume ranges from 5 to 15 patients per day with 30–45 minute treatment slots and 1-hour slots for new evaluations
• Inpatient responsibilities include acute-to-SNF mobility progression and discharge planning
• Outpatient responsibilities cover a broad range of diagnoses requiring thorough and independent clinical judgment
• Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM with a 1-hour lunch break; flexibility in work hours may occur
• Saturday availability is required — no exceptions
• Two-day orientation: Day 1 covers HR, fingerprinting, policy review, safety, risk and quality management, and IT orientation (begins at 10:00 AM); Day 2 is dedicated to EMR training

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of physical therapy experience required
• Experience across inpatient settings (acute, ICU, SNF) and outpatient settings required
• Current BLS/BCLS certification required
• Active Hawaii PT license required; candidates should obtain Hawaii PT licensure as early as possible — license required if applicable
• Ability to work independently in a rural healthcare environment
• Strong discharge planning knowledge required
• Availability to work Saturdays is mandatory
