Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ED Holds/Telemetry position at a Level I Trauma Center in Arizona, requiring a strong cardiac telemetry background and the ability to titrate cardiac drips.

- Acute care hospital setting at a Level I Trauma Center in Chandler, AZ
- ED Holds/Telemetry unit caring for patients waiting for inpatient bed placement, primarily MS/Tele diagnoses
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- 12-hour night shifts (7p–7a)
- 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule
- Must work 2 of 4 major holidays, rotating with permanent staff
- Travelers are first to float; may float to med/surg, tele, and overflow units across two campuses
- Charting via Cerner
- No vents on unit; no monitor techs — nurses must independently read and interpret cardiac strips
- No on-call requirement
- Self-scheduling available, though subject to change
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active AZ RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active, not pending
- Minimum 2 years of recent telemetry or ED experience (within the past 6 months)
- Strong cardiac telemetry background required; ability to titrate and wean cardiac drips per physician orders and parameters
- Experience titrating common drips including Cardizem, Heparin, and Amiodarone
- Required certifications (active, not pending): BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA or APEX)
- Must pass a Relias Dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of offer (maximum 2 attempts)
- Driver's license required for consideration
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
Additional Information
- Primary responsibility is caring for ED patients awaiting inpatient bed placement; may also assist with ED patient tasks such as vitals, IV starts, and medication administration, but will not serve as primary RN for ED patient assignments
- ED PCTs are available on the unit
- Orientation consists of 2 shifts on the Med/Surg/Tele unit at the primary campus
- A Pass/Fail simulation lab assessment on sterile technique (Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes) is required on the first day of orientation — study guides will be provided
- Navy scrubs required
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (permanent address as shown on driver's license) to qualify for travel rates
- Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply (MS/Tele travelers do not need prior travel experience)
