Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position at a Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated teaching hospital, requiring an active SC or compact RN license and rotating day/night shift availability.
Details
- Located on a 21-bed inpatient Med/Surg unit (10 West) in the main hospital building, with all-private patient rooms
- Primary patient population includes traumatic and orthopedic injury, general surgery, plastic/reconstructive surgery, and elective spine surgery patients who are hemodynamically stable; adult and geriatric patients may also be admitted
- Patient ratio is 1:5
- Rotating day and night shifts available: days 7:00 AM–7:30 PM and nights 7:00 PM–7:30 AM (3x12-hour shifts)
- Every other weekend required; holiday coverage required as needed
- Floating within scope of practice required to meet facility needs
- Block scheduling may be requested but is subject to manager and unit approval
- EMR: Epic
Requirements
- Active SC RN license (or compact RN license) required; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered but must be fully licensed before starting
- Current BLS certification required (American Heart Association only)
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Driver's License and SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
- This is a Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated, academic teaching hospital with 820 staffed beds
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates who have previously worked as permanent staff or PRN at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
- Candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are considered local; non-local candidates are prioritized
- RTO of 7 days or fewer (non-holiday) is generally accommodated; requests exceeding 7 days or including holidays require facility approval and may delay the process
- All staff and contractors are assigned to emergency response teams; travelers should be aware that hurricane season runs June through November, with peak activity in August and September
- Pre-start orientation modules are required and completed before the assignment begins
- Scrub color requirement: solid royal blue or white top with royal blue bottoms for all RNs
- Parking is available at the 91 Presidents Street garage with a one-time $20 registration fee for a hang tag; the hang tag is only valid for that specific garage
