Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2+ years of experience, Level II trauma center background, and multiple certifications including ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and NIHSS.
Details
- 101-bed Emergency Department in a hospital setting
- Level II trauma center and comprehensive stroke center environment
- High-volume ED serving a diverse, multicultural community with over 120 languages represented in the service area
- Patient ratios are typically 4:1 for medical patients and up to 7:1 for behavioral health holds
- Support staff includes techs in the cardiac monitoring unit and internal processing area, triage support, and unit clerks on days and nights
- Equipment used includes Baxter pumps and GE monitors
- Charting is done in Cerner
- Night shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
- Every other weekend required; scheduling must meet departmental needs and block scheduling is not available
- Floating is limited to within the ED but candidates must be open to all sections within the department
Requirements
- Active NC or Compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year in an ED setting required
- Experience in a Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, or high-volume ED (100,000+ annual visits) strongly preferred
- Required certifications prior to start: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI (or accepted equivalent such as SAMA, MAB, or ACPMA), and NIHSS
- ENPC required within 90 days of start
- Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start date
- Cerner EMR experience preferred
- Previous HCA facility experience preferred
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to coach and provide real-time feedback required
- Flexibility to work in all areas of the ED required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required (two required for candidates licensed in Florida or Missouri)
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include delivering patient-centered care using the AIDET framework, maintaining respectful and culturally competent interactions, and keeping patient boards and communication updated throughout each visit
- The department is known for strong teamwork and a welcoming culture
- Navy scrubs required
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible for this position
- This is a 13-week travel contract
