Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Flex Pool (Float) position working nights across medical and surgical units, requiring an active Hawaii RN license and a minimum of 2 years of experience.
Details
- Hospital-based setting with floating responsibilities across multiple units, including a Medical Unit (77 beds), Laulima Surgical Acute Unit (18 beds), and Cardiovascular Unit (15 beds)
- Patient population includes adult med/surg and step-down patients across medical, surgical, and cardiovascular units
- Nurse-to-patient ratios vary by unit: Medical Unit 1:6 (days/evenings) and 1:8 (nights), Laulima Unit 1:6, Cardiovascular Unit 1:4; ratios may vary due to unexpected staffing changes
- EMR: Meditech; additional equipment includes Pyxis, wound vac, and chest tubes
- 12-hour night shifts (1845–0715), scheduled 36 hours per week following the first week of orientation
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active Hawaii (HI) RN license required by start of assignment; candidates without a current HI license must apply upon acceptance of offer
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Required certifications: BLS/BCLS and ACLS
- Preferred certifications: PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, and ENPC
Additional Information
- Float RN role rotating between the Medical, Laulima Surgical Acute, and Cardiovascular units
- Orientation is provided for each unit at the start of the assignment
- All travelers must report to Employee Health 48–72 hours prior to their start date; candidates should plan to arrive in Hawaii the Thursday before a Monday start to attend the Employee Health appointment on Friday morning
- Documented proof of immunity is required; medical and religious exemption requests will not be accepted in lieu of documentation
- Professional nursing attire (clean scrubs) is required
