Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level IV NICU position at a children's hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Level III-IV NICU experience and a WA or compact RN license.
Details
- 70-bed Level IV NICU within a 152-bed children's hospital, with a typical census of around 50 patients
- Patient population includes premature infants as early as 22 weeks gestation, RDS, high-risk deliveries, feeders/growers, and NAS; preferred experience with surgical patients and HIE (Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy)
- Private rooms in the NICU; overflow to Level II Nursery for feeders/growers
- Connected to an adult hospital with a high-risk labor and delivery unit
- Procedures and skills include ventilator respiratory support, NCPAP, UAC/UVC management, PICC lines, G-tubes, NG/OG tube management, and medication administration
- Tracheostomy (trach) experience is highly preferred
- EMR: Epic (experience required for clinical interviewing)
- 12-hour day shifts (0700–1930) or night shifts (1900–0730)
- 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required; occasional back-to-back weekends possible but rare
- Floating to the ER as a sitter is possible but rare
- No on-call requirements
- Block scheduling is possible but not guaranteed
Requirements
- Active WA state RN license or compact RN license required
- Current certifications: BLS and NRP
- Minimum 2 years of Level III or Level IV NICU experience required
- Proficiency with ventilator respiratory support required
- Experience with UAC/UVC management, PICC lines, NCPAP, G-tubes, and NG/OG tubes required
- Trach experience highly preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- At least one supervisor-level reference (Charge Nurse, Manager, Director, or above) required for consideration; a second reference will be needed prior to start
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include respiratory support management, vascular line care, enteral feeding management, medication administration, care plan development, and discharge-to-home coordination
- The care team values candidates with a positive, friendly, and collaborative attitude
- Any scrub color is acceptable
- First-time travelers will be considered, though travel experience is strongly preferred
- 13-week contract
