Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a CVICU travel assignment in San Antonio, TX, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and an active TX RN license.
Details
- Work in the Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) of a large acute care hospital in San Antonio, TX
- Cardiovascular patient population including post-CABG, post-VAD, and post-cardiac catheterization cases with support devices (IABP, Impella, ECMO)
- Hemodynamic monitoring including Swan-Ganz catheters and arterial lines performed on the unit
- Ventilator management required
- Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Rotating weekends required
- No on-call requirements
- Floating is required per the facility's floating policy, with all travelers expected to float
- Documents charting in Meditech (experience preferred)
Requirements
- Active TX RN license required — no temporary licenses accepted
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
- Proficiency with hemodynamic monitoring (Swan-Ganz catheters, arterial lines) required
- Ventilator management experience required
- Strong critical thinking skills required
- IABP and CRRT exposure preferred
- Meditech charting and order entry experience preferred
- US SSN and DOB required for consideration
- One professional reference required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
Additional Information
- Candidates will be trained on CVICU devices to support cardiovascular cases
- Scrub color requirement: navy scrub top and pants; navy or white scrub jacket
- Visible piercings other than ears are prohibited
- Body art/tattoos should be covered whenever possible
- Punctuality is strictly enforced — clock-in time is 6:38 AM/PM; arriving after 6:45 AM/PM is considered tardy
- A full 30-minute lunch break is required and badging in/out for each shift is mandatory
- 13-week contract
