Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/IMCU (Progressive Care Unit) position at a tertiary care hospital in Rochester, NY, requiring an active NY RN license and Epic experience for a 13-week night shift contract.

Details

• Work in a 26-bed Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU), a critical care step-down unit within a 528-bed tertiary care hospital
• Patient population consists of adult, acute care patients requiring more specialized monitoring and intervention than a general med-surg floor
• Patients are received from the Emergency Department, PACU, ICU, and medical-surgical floors
• All patients have continuous pulse-oximetry and telemetry monitoring
• Cares for patients requiring airway management, acute BiPAP support, arterial lines, central lines, and titrated IV medication infusions
• Patient ratio ranges from 1:5 to 1:7 (MedSurg acuity)
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active NY RN license currently in hand — no exceptions
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required; valid NIHSS cert must be submitted for consideration
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficiency in cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with rapid response and code team protocols
• IV therapy and phlebotomy skills, including peripheral line care and management
• Respiratory management skills including nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks, and non-invasive airway management
• Knowledge of isolation precautions

Additional Information

• Candidate must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates; local candidates within 75 miles are not eligible
• Provides evidence-based, multi-disciplinary care to acuity-variable adult patients in a step-down setting
• Team is described as adaptive and vigilant, using a multidisciplinary care approach
• Scrub color requirement: any combination of navy and white
