Description

American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position in Wilson, NC, requiring at least 1.5 years of experience and AHA certifications on a night shift schedule.

Details

• Night shift position, 7P-7A (19:00–07:00), 36 hours per week
• 13-week contract
• Med/Surg unit serving as a telemetry overflow floor in a 294-bed, Joint Commission Accredited hospital
• 22-bed unit with an adult and geriatric patient population
• Patient-to-nurse ratio of 5:1 or 6:1
• Common diagnoses include CHF, chest pain, ARF, COPD, uncontrolled diabetes, CKD, and post-cardiac cath care
• Equipment includes Welch Allyn V/S machines, Hoyer Lift with weight scale, Abbott Glucometer, computers on wheels, TR band, and Baxter IV pumps
• EMR: Meditech (experience preferred)
• Every other or every third weekend requirement (12-hour weekend shifts)
• Floating required
• No on-call requirements
• Orientation is held bi-weekly

Requirements

• Active NC or Compact RN license required
• AHA certifications required: BLS and ACLS
• Minimum 1.5 years of RN experience required
• Associate degree required; BSN preferred
• EKG interpretation skills are a plus
• Experience managing discharges and admissions preferred
• Basic cardiac drip knowledge preferred
• Candidates must reside at least 60 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rate
• Social Security number and date of birth required for consideration
• Must not have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months
• Must not be employed full-time elsewhere

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include providing care for telemetry and med/surg overflow patients, managing admissions and discharges, and monitoring cardiac patients
• Supervised by a Clinical Staff Lead or Charge Nurse
• Team-oriented and flexible personality a strong fit for this unit
• No artificial nails permitted; scrub color is not assigned
• Wilson, NC is located 45 miles east of Raleigh, approximately 1 hour from Duke, NC State, UNC Chapel Hill, and East Carolina University, and 2 hours from the NC coast
