Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/IMCU (Progressive Care Unit) position at a tertiary care hospital in Rochester, NY, requiring an active NY RN license and Epic experience.

Details

• 26-bed Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) functioning as a critical care step-down unit within a 528-bed tertiary care hospital
• Patient population consists of adult acute care patients requiring more specialized care than a general med-surg unit, including patients from the ED, PACU, ICU, and med-surg floors
• Patients include those requiring airway management, acute BiPAP support, arterial lines, central lines, and titrated IV medication infusions
• All patients have continuous pulse-oximetry and telemetry monitoring
• Patient ratio ranges from 1:5 to 1:7 (MedSurg acuity)
• Schedule: 3x12 Night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active NY RN license currently in hand — no exceptions
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required; valid NIHSS certificate must be included for consideration
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficiency in cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with IV therapy, peripheral line care and management, and phlebotomy
• Experience with respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen, and non-invasive airway management
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and rapid response/code team protocols

• Team is expected to adapt quickly and provide vigilant, compassionate care across a varied patient population
• Scrub color requirement: any combination of navy and white
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates; local candidates within that radius are not eligible
• First-time travelers are accepted
• All time-off or scheduling requests should be submitted at the start of the assignment process
• 2 professional supervisor references from within the past 2 years are required for consideration, along with a full 7-year work history with all gaps explained
