Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU/ED Float RN for a 13-week night shift contract at a Level 3 trauma acute care hospital in Minnesota, requiring at least 1 year of ICU experience and strong critical care skills.
Details
- SCU/ED Float RN position at a 63-bed acute care Level 3 trauma hospital
- ICU unit with an average daily census of 5, with 8 rooms and 10 beds
- Floating required to other units as needed, primarily the ED, and potentially to nearby affiliate hospitals
- Schedule: 3x12-hour night shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Up to every other weekend required
- On-call may be required as needed by the department
- Charting via Epic (Excellian)
- Navy scrub color required
- Free parking available in any unrestricted space
Requirements
- Active MN RN license required; pending license accepted
- Minimum 1 year of ICU experience required
- Required certifications: BLS and ACLS; CCRN preferred
- Cardiac monitoring skills required: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, 12-lead EKG acquisition, multi-system organ failure management
- Thermoregulation experience required (hypothermia/hyperthermia protocols)
- IV insulin protocol experience required
- GI surgery experience required
- Chronic and acute renal failure experience required
- IV therapy skills required: port access, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care/management, PICC line management, and IV insertion
- Medication management skills required: continuous IV paralytics/neuromuscular blockade, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, procedural sedation, titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Neurological case experience required: CVA/acute stroke management, EVD, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, post-neurosurgery management, spinal cord injury, and TBI
- Respiratory/thoracic skills required: BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube insertion/removal assistance, ventilated patient care, HFNC, ABG interpretation, ETT/NT suctioning, and ventilator management
- Additional skills required: infection/isolation precautions and PPE use, phlebotomy, and wound care including surgical wounds with drains/wound VAC
- Epic (Excellian) EMR experience required
- 1 supervisor reference required for consideration
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Pre-start modules are required to be completed before the assignment begins
- Candidates who previously worked at this health system as permanent staff or per diem must have been away for at least 3 months from their last shift worked
- RTO requests of no more than 5 days are preferred
- Block scheduling is not available, though the scheduler will work with candidates as best they can
- 13-week contract minimum; candidates interested in a longer contract should indicate this
